Web Designer & Web Developer Graduate Placements

Writemedia is seeking several talented individuals wanting to start a career in web design or web development. These are temporary placements, which will involve learning technical skills with mentoring, and working on live client work under supervision. A degree in a related subject may be beneficial, however is not a requirement as long as you can demonstrate a clear aptitude and interest in the field. An aptitude for learning new skills, enthusiasm for the work and self motivation are essential qualities.

There may be a possibility of leading on to further employment for exceptional candidates but it should be expected to come to an end after 6 months and you will finish the placement with demonstrable skills and examples of work to add to your CV.

The placement will be based at our Pembroke Dock office, but some home working may be required temporarily due to the Coronavirus outbreak. Current students who want to gain industry experience alongside their studies are welcome to apply. The position is a 6 month temporary part time placement paying minimum wage.

Creative Digital Marketer

This job role covers a wide range of responsibilities centered around marketing, design and delivering customer requirements. This would be an exciting opportunity for the right person giving plenty of opportunities to learn new skills and grow, with the potential to make a big impact and become a highly valued member of the team. Flexibility in the range of work undertaken is important, and would suit someone inquisitive who would enjoy variety in their day to day work.

Being self motivated, highly productive and taking initiative would allow someone to thrive in this position. It would be an excellent opportunity for someone trying to start a career in the industry and prove themselves, but anyone who thinks they would be a good fit are encouraged to apply.

The following qualities would be an advantage in a candidate. We do not expect candidates to have all the below experience and would like to hear from anyone who thinks they have some relevant background and would be keen to learn other skills. On the job learning opportunities will be given, and training resources made available to learn new skills.

  • Graphic design using Photoshop or a similar package
  • Good writing skills and any experience writing blog posts, newsletters, case studies or social media posts
  • Prior experience in Search Engine Optimisation
  • Any experience with HTML, CSS and web design
  • Good knowledge of social media platforms and how to reach an audience
  • Any previous business to business marketing experience
  • Ability to produce reports demonstrating results e.g. Using google analytics to show increases in website visitors
  • Any experience with digital advertising platforms such as Google adwords

Responsibilities will include the following.

  • Writing content for various channels such as websites and social media posts
  • Creating graphics e.g. for a social media post or website
  • Creating websites and website designs using HTML and CSS
  • Proactively contact businesses using a variety of channels
  • Managing adverts
  • Research new ways to be effective in the job
  • Measure and report on your own results and effectiveness

There may be scope for the job role to expand and adapt for candidates who have a particular strength or who want to learn software development skills. The successful candidate can expect some amount of freedom and creative control around how they achieve their goals, ideas for marketing campaigns etc provided that they are achieving results and are clearly proactive, self motivated and effective in their job. Success will be primarily measured in terms of generating enquiries from potential new customers and the value of work carried out on behalf of clients.

This is initially a fixed term 6 month position, with the possibility of leading to further employment depending on performance.

Writemedia are currently working with a mixture of home working and office based working temporarily due to the Coronavirus outbreak, however the successful candidate will be required to work full time in the Pembroke Dock office once the company decides to return to normal working conditions.
